This book is next in line to my bible! The writer puts it out there in language everyone can understand. It is written with the average lay person in mind. When you are caught off guard, this book will help you to make sense of it all. First part describing the narcissist is right on. The second part is all about now how do you protect yourself and your family? Absolutely perfect instructions and directions to help navigate through the maze of courts, lawyers and counselors. It really opened my eyes to the legal system. I realized the saddest thing. You are not innocent until proven guilty. If someone lies against you, you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent! This book will help you do just that. Knowledge is power. This book will empower you to help yourself and make good decisions.

Good book. But I'm not convinced that a narcissist PD parent even under the pilot program can be prevented from harming the children emotionally as long as they have access to them alone. Since when does a narcissist/antisocial respond to or cooperate with therapy? Such personality disorders are practically incurable. It's about time that the mental health professionals stand up and acknowledge that the narcissists emotional abuse of his children is as damaging as physical abuse and that documented physical abuse of the other parent is a basis for concluding that the abusive spouse will likely also abuse of the children in an effort to control the other parent. As noted in the book, it's all about control and winning for these sick individuals and the kids are just pawns in a game. Children are emotionally defenseless, and the system presently ensures that even a good healthy parent with resources cannot protect them from this emotional abuse. The fact is that the system presently leaves the children to handle this themselves...when they have grown up and are already damaged. The healthy parent has probably been completely alienated from the children by that time. So In the interest of preserving the narcissist parent's access to the children alone, the children end up damaged and disconnected from their healthy parent, the only one that could have helped them. If the goal is to protect children with a narcissist PD parent, on-going supervised visitation needs to be central to the pilot program and the law behind the pilot program. The expense of supervision should be borne by the narcissistic parent.

I was recommended this book by a friend who said it may help with some anxiety I have been having when dealing with an ex. She said it related back to narcissism and this book would be a great read to enlighten me on better ways to deal with the less than ideal situation. It was a great read and definitely gave me insight into not only the crazy of my ex and his narcissism, but also so insight into myself and my life. Definitely would recommend this book to anyone who has questions about narcissism and better ways to cope with these types of situations.

Educating yourself about Narcissistic Personality Disorder will change your life! If you are in a relationship with a narcissist your troubles are worse than you know. Understanding the phenomena is not just important in your marriage/divorce. You deal with more narcissists in your day to day life than you realize. They are masters of deceit and they are drawn to altruistic people that they can take advantage of. I wish I could have read this book 39 years ago, when I was busy making the choice that would destroy my life. I wish the program to educate the court system, that Dr. McBride proposes in this book, was in place now. My estranged wife first made it clear that she was positioning for a divorce 17 years ago. I spent years, to no avail, trying to save the marriage for the sake of the children. She has been using the court system to destroy me for over 12 years. She is a family law attorney and is represented by a friend. She hasn't had to spend a dime. I have spent over $250,000 on attorneys so far with no end in sight. She weaponized my kids and they haven't spoken to me in over 11 years. They were minors when the court case started. Now they are grown up and my daughter got married without me. My estranged wife very convincingly plays the victim for every judge that we have been in front of, and it works. In 12 years of rulings, not a single one has gone in my favor. Twice she has gotten judges to ignore the law and give her title interest in my legally separate property, based on nothing but her testimony. I always think the court will see through her constant barrage of pejorative attacks on my character, but it works for her. In every ruling for the last 12 years, the judges have found her to be credible and me to not be credible, in spite of solid evidence supporting me. The way the court system works, there is no avenue available to me to demonstrate to the court who she really is. Even if my attorneys could see the value of it, and the court would allow it, I can't afford to bring a professional in to enlighten the court. Judges need to learn to identify the problem. All of the earmarks are there in my case. I hope Dr. McBride's proposed model for a program becomes a reality someday. I am dealing with true evil and there is no authority in the justice system I can turn to for help. At least I understand what I'm dealing with now. Educate yourself and stop being a victim. Since this started I have found my soulmate and have everything I need to be truly happy. I just need to lose my narcissist and I hope that my children see things more clearly some day. If I had it to do over, and had this book, I'm sure the outcome would be better. Thank you Dr. McBride.

Apparently someone decided that finding sufficient PzKpfw IV photos in the needed format was too much trouble, so there are several PzKpfw III photos included as well as several of vehicles which used the PzKpfw III/IV or PzKpfw IV chassis but weren't PzKpfw IVs. The caption for the Sturmpanzer IV (Sturmpanzer 43) perpetuates the Allied-invented name of "Brummbaer" with its type designation mentioned only in passing using a bastardized German-English spelling, and "Brummbaer" is mistranslated as usual. 4. PD tanks are identified as 3. PD with a "Berlin Bear" unit insignia, inexcusable in 2012. Apparently Paul Thomas is out-of-date with his research and doesn't know obsolete German or what a Berlin Bear looks like. One photo from page 14 is repeated with a new caption on page 29, indicating that this book was lackadaisically edited and proofed by Charles Markuss and Pen & Sword staff. The arrangement of the photos, while generally chronological, is often haphazard enough to be confusing or misleading to casual readers. PzKpfw IVs in Africa are ignored. The camouflage section of the Appendix "Panzer Camouflage and Panzer IV Variants" has some generally accurate elements, but the section is quite poorly written and misleading. The variant titles and writing in the variants section are also poorly and confusingly written, this whole appendix giving the impression of an afterthought to fill out a required number of pages.This book will be most useful to those interested in the PzKpfw IVs in Bulgarian service, as it has ten pages of lesser-known photos of those vehicles. For those interested in the PzKpfw IV in Wehrmacht service, this book is not among the better offerings.

If you are interested in the Panzer IV then this book is a good one to get for its photographic content but I was more than a bit disappointed in the numerous caption errors. I was also puzzled about the inclusion of a few photos of Panzer III's that technically had no place in this book.

Great picture book, but the content is very general, with no good information on the variation of Panzer IV and more technical content. But mere history of WWII

I was initially excited about this book and the prospect of improving my learning, but I found the content to be more suitable for a middle school child than an adult. There were errors and typos that we're clearly obvious, many of which have been pointed out in other reviews. The strategies listed in the later chapters simply will not work for advanced testing in the college setting an vigorous programs do not allow the time commitment that the author's techniques demand. The strategies we're simplistic... write notes and copy them over and over. This is simply not feasible for real-world adult applications. I was truly disappointed when the chapter on improving your reading speeds boiled down to skimming and skipping sections that seemed non-important.*Overall, there may be one or 2 pearls of wisdom here, but this book is more suitable for someone at a 6th grade level of study skills and comprehension. It may be worth the $2.99 for some people, it just was not worth it to me.

The book is ok, but it seems as if the author didn't spend time with the editing of the book. There are quite a few typos in it. Also, the author claims there are 6 sections in the book, but there are actually just 5. The book sections are numbered 1-4, then 6. There is no section 5 as stated. The author left gaps in the book that may be important in the long run, or just didn't bother to edit the changes he made in the book. For a book on accelerated learning, you would have expected a more polished well written book.

However, learning how to learn needs an effort. There is no magic powder in this book. No audio to listen to while you are asleep. The process will take hard work. Nobody can do this in your place. But in the end, you will be able to control your destiny.Take the first step and get started.

I thought I was going to look up from the pages to find a camera crew from Punk'd. Somehow I read to chapter 4, but here's an excerpt:"Now let's put these three steps into action. Let's examine these three steps into action. Let's exam each of these techniques in detail, along with concrete example of what they will accomplish for you."

If you are a struggling student in any stage of your life, I would suggest reading this book. It gives general tips on how to study, prep, and take tests. It gives a few good examples but I felt some of it was lacking. I give this 4 stars because I felt that most of it was "word count fillers", also the strategies suggested, I've applied for years... THEY WORK! Great for a refresher though. Because of this I lost interest around chapter 14-16. I did finish reading the book, looking for a little gold nugget, but didn't find it lol.

To me, one of the most useless nonfiction books I've ever read.Luckily I applied what it tries to teach to the very core of it and managed to pseudo-read it in 20 minutes. Should be titled reading for dummies.

Advice to author: tell the reader who you are and try to explain how you are remotely qualified on this subject; don't outsource the book to an overseas ghost writer. It's obvious; proof your book. Spelling and grammar are probably second grade level.Advice to potential buyer: if you do what is suggested in this book it will have the opposite effect of the title.

This book has so many grammatical and spelling errors, it is difficult to take seriously. There are a few good points, but not for anyone that has read anything else in the field of teaching/learning.

I'm a big fan of the Oscar the cat series by Geoff Waring. They all have lovely illustrations and make science topics accessible for young children. I would estimate an appropriate age range to be two(ish) to five years old.Here is a summary of the books I have from the series:1) Oscar and the Bird (Electricity) - Impressive in its ability to make technical concepts accessible to young children. Doesn't get down to the level of electrons and charge, but does discuss batteries, basic concept of a circuit, different forms of electricity. Helped my youngster understand that electricity can be dangerous and you shouldn't play with it (via discussion of a power line).2) Oscar and the Moth (Light/Dark) - Not super technical, but discusses concepts such as different sources of light, how lights can be warm, rotation of the earth, shadows, how some animals make lights with their bodies (ie: bio-luminescence).3) Oscar and the Frog (Growing) - Very nicely done. Concepts such as: different animals/plants grow in different ways (from eggs, from seeds, live births); different living things grow at different rates, animals eat different types of food to grow.4) Oscar and the Bat (Sound) - probably the least science heavy of the four Oscar books I own. Nice that it talks about how animals can use different parts of their bodies to make sound. Nice that it discusses that sounds get louder the closer they get. Doesn't go into concepts about how sounds are made or propagated (ie: sound waves). This is not necessarily a complaint, I'm not sure I could get a three year old to understand a sound wave either!

We have four of the Oscar books. They introduce scientific concepts to YOUNG kids - please do not think you are purchasing a book that will explain echolocation in depth - you are not. I have to admit that the illustrations win me over to these books more than the content. I do recommend them for parents or teachers of preschoolers and/or early elementary students. My two boys thoroughly enjoy following Oscar through each of the books in our collection.

Oscar and the Bat is part of a continuing series of Oscar the cat exploring science concepts with other animal friends around him. Each Oscar book begins with him making an OBSERVATION and following that observation with a QUESTION to help him understand how something works. An animal friend joins him to help find answers and more information about each concept using examples from a variety of animals, natural phenomenon, and sometimes everyday man made devices. Each story presents Oscar APPRECIATING the concept he has learned about and selecting a favorite example. The last two pages of each book summarize concepts for REVIEW and offer ways to add learning REINFORCEMENT GAMES with the child to whom it is read.In Oscar and the Bat, the concept is sound. In this story, Oscar learns why he can hear things he can't see. He also learns that sounds made by animals function as communication and can be made in many different parts of the body (rubbing wings, hissing through holes, whistling with throats or wings, etc.) . He also learns that all sounds aren't talking sounds when he explores sounds from machinery and nature. Opposite sounds are explored in terms of harsh and gentle, loud and soft, including silence. In the end, Oscar and others pick their favorite sounds. (I won't spoil it for you but the end could make a sensitive sort tear up a little.)This review is intended to help those who care for children in their lives make informed decisions about science books for children.

I gave this to my husband as a father's day gift and it's the best decision ever. He has already treated me to multiple meals from this book and they were all delicious! (They also each contained about 100g of cheese, so if you're on a low-fat diet, maybe look elsewhere, but as it is, we love it! :))

Use this all the time. Great guide to making basic egg pasta (and variants on that), an *amazing* tomato-cream sauce recipe, and lots of great ideas for full-fledged pasta dishes. One of my favorites.

A glossary, cutting, saucing and storing directions will get you ready to cook. The author provides clear and concise recipes for basic pasta doughs starting with egg, spinach, and whole wheat, then moves into others such as pumpkin. Recipes for sauces, including three variations on tomato sauce, plus pesto, bechamel and two ragus are included.There are chapters on soups, filled pasta and dumplings, baked pasta, classics and showstoppers and dessert pastas. Ms. Marchetti has devoted a chapter to quick dishes such as Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara, and all the mystery is removed. You'll find yourself stepping into the kitchen, and just like an Italian, you'll have dinner on the table in the time it takes to boil the water.I've owned this book since just after its publication, and I have had great results with every recipe. I've never found a better recipe for cappelletti in Broth, those bite sized pasta shaped like nurse's caps. The filling is tasty and light, and the broth is clear with clean flavor. Ditalini and Cannellini Bean Soup with Escarole is now one of my husband's favorites. The Pumpkin Lasagne ai Quattro Formaggi (pumpkin lasagne with four cheeses) is excellent, a classic updated.Ms. Marchetti's recipes are beautifully rendered in photographs by France Ruffenach. There's no trick photography here - your version of the dish will look just as good as the book. The field of Italian cookbooks is a crowded one, but make room on your shelf for The Glorious Pasta of Italy. You'll use it again and again.

I LOVE this book! The recipes go far beyond the "usual" expected recipes. There is little I could add to the previous reviews. However, I can't give this five stars because of the TINY type face. Chronicle Books has created so much whitespace that it doesn't seem to be an issue of utilizing the most space per word. I hate that when I am cooking I have to practically use a magnifying glass. This is true for all her books, with the exception of Big Night In and Rustic Italian (also outstandingly written and well worth purchasing).

Great basic pasta cookbook. I love Pasta and most of the dishes are fairly easy to make with basic skill level. Also, not many speciality ingredients are required.

The book is ok, not too original. Most recipes are good but there is too much dialog.

Loved the book. Interesting read and recipes.
